How to Read Ingredient Labels in Other Languages

ClearaScan reads ingredient labels in other languages, translates them into English and checks them against your list, so a French "lait" or a Spanish "leche" is caught like the English word.

How it works abroad

Photograph the ingredient list as you would at home. ClearaScan tells you which language the label was in, shows the ingredients in English, and checks them against the person's Ingredient Guard.

Before you travel

  • Set up each traveller's Ingredient Guard before you go
  • Save the Emergency Allergy Card to show in restaurants
  • Translation can occasionally get a word wrong, so if a result surprises you, check the label with someone who reads the language

Questions

Which languages does ClearaScan read?

Supported foreign-language ingredient lists are translated into English and checked. The result tells you which language was detected.

Does it work for imported products at home?

Yes. World food aisles and imported beauty products work the same way.
